In my experience, an event like this is enough to break a man.Ġ1:44 - Squidward rejects Spongebob’s punishment by taking it off and throwing it at him. It was carefully designed by this mastermind of a Sponge for maximum annoyance. Putting it onto his head, at which point, Squidward discovers that the sweater is much too small. I bet Patrick Bateman wishes he could apply that on his face.Ġ1:22 - Spongebob presents Squidward with a sweater made out of his own goddamn eyebrows.Ġ1:28 - Spongebob goads Squidward into wearing it. ![]() Secondly, I want to note that the total plasticity of Spongebob’s face means that he has the ability to be an infallible liar if he so chooses. It seems that Spongebob does not like this.Ġ1:07 - Spongebob proceeds to completely rearrange his own face with a motorized table cleaner while staring and laughing at Squidward. Squidward is exercising his right to not change his personal feelings in exchange for money. Krabs can’t pay him enough to act ‘brotherly’ towards Spongebob. Squidward does point at Spongebob and say that Mr. I think it’s only fair that we provide some context here for Spongebob’s eventual… ‘outburst’. That he’ll find you in your dreams if he wants to.Ġ1:02 - Ok. Spongebob: “ taunts Squidward, did you see me!?” Of course he saw you, you little bastard, you invaded his dreams.Ġ0:39 - “OKAY, SEE YOU LATER, SQUIDNATER!” Imagine knowing that you’re never safe. ![]() Clearly, Spongebob is referencing the events from the night before. Before Squidward can even enter the building, Spongebob begins taunting him. This is diabolical.Ġ0:36 - Squidward enters work. ![]() In this case, it seems that Spongebob has ‘hacked’ into Squidward’s unconscious mind for the sole purpose of causing Squidward unease. Spongebob has displayed the ability to hijack the dreams of others in the past - seemingly with the utmost ease. It’s not the first time that something like this has happened. A copy should have been provided to you in the mail.Ġ0:21 - Ok, right off the bat… Spongebob has clearly used his telepathic abilities to invade Squidward’s dream. Please press play on your Dying for Pie devices. It is a canon recording of the Sponge in question. This episode alone should provide enough evidence. Ok, look guys, I'm staring right in front of me at the tapes.

Though Gregorian chant seems like worlds away from the complexity of the Classical music tradition, there is no doubt there was some influence. The American Heart Association found that patients with coronary heart disease who practiced meditation and chanting had nearly 50% lower rates of heart attack, stroke, and death compared to non-meditating subjects. Alan Watkins, a neuroscientist at Imperial College of London, has shown that the Gregorian Chant can lower blood pressure and help reduce anxiety and depression.Ī 2012 study from the University of São Paulo School of Nursing discovered that Gregorian chant helped reduce anxiety for mothers with hospitalized children. Modern science is uncovering that there may be truth to that, though the research is still in its initial stages. Many in the Early Middle Ages believed that the chants had healing powers, imparting tremendous spiritual blessings when sung in harmony. Does Gregorian Chant Have Healing Powers? It allows you to relax, providing simple music to focus your attention and calm your mind. It has the power to pull us into the present moment - to focus on the “journey of now”, to borrow Tolle’s term. Some clergy believe that chanting creates a rhythmic breathing pattern, which is akin to yogic breathing. Today, many use the music for practicing meditation. It has moved from church walls into many other spaces. The music has barely changed since the Middle Ages. As Tolle says, “music, like nature, bypasses the conceptual mind.” Gregorian chant can do just that. Is Gregorian Chant Meditation Music?Ĭalm Radio member Ekhart Tolle listed our Gregorian Chant channel as one of his essential channels. No precise rhythm, notes may be held short or long. The characteristics of Gregorian chant are… Tones rise and fall in an unstructured fashion. Chants are sung in unison without rhyme or meter. It is vocal music, sung without musical accompaniment. The story illustrates the belief of the monks on the power this music had for worship. A monk, Remigius says, heard angels singing a chant. He likely had no direct involvement in developing Gregorian chant, but was instrumental in helping reorder and unite the liturgy.Īround 850, Remigius of Auxerre, a Benedictine monk, shared a spiritual story on the origin of the chants. Popular legend credits Pope Gregory I with inventing Gregorian chant. It became the official music of Christian worship in the mid-8th-century. It developed mainly in western and central Europe during the 9th and 10th centuries. It stands as the first example of Christian liturgical music that was written and preserved. He believes that the music has a calming power, which has “the ability to touch people’s hearts.” However, Father Karl Wallner, the monastery’s communications director, has a different explanation. So why was ancient music so popular? Some cite the popularity of the video game Halo, which used Gregorian chant in its soundtrack. The roots of Gregorian chant date back even further than that. The monks hail from a monastery that dates back to 1133 AD (or CE). It also reached #1 of the classical music charts in England, across Europe, and even in the US. “Music for Paradise”, an album filled with medieval Gregorian chant, entered the top ten on the pop charts. Well, on May 31, 2008, that is exactly what happened. The scale of battles always remains manageable, however, as each unit type is depicted by just a single character model on the battlefield no matter how many of those units you actually command. Stuff enough gold into your pantaloons and increase your hero's leadership skill as you increase in level and you'll be able to afford the services of loads of hirelings. You start off with a paltry handful of these goons, but soon wind up at the head of a tremendous force of killer Renaissance fair refugees. Mages, priests, knights, archers, monsters, and the like are hired at special buildings such as the king's castle for use as shock troops in your hero's party. Instead of whaling on monsters with a small party of adventurers as in the typical RPG, you wage tactical battles with veritable armies of troops on turn-based battlefields. Throwing the book-er, spellbook-is just one way to get rid of a pesky undead enemy.ĭespite that description, this isn't a hack-and-slasher. Essentially, you just wander around doing good deeds, guiding an icon of your hero through the usual D&D-inspired landscape to slay monsters, loot treasure, scoop up skill runes, mana crystals, and leadership banners, and solve quests handed out by your king and various passersby. A story slowly develops regarding the king's older brother and the standard evil threat to the continued existence of, well, everything, although you don't have to pay much attention to it. You then explore the huge medieval fantasy world of Darion in the service of King Mark the Wise, plying the trade of a treasure hunter. A strong RPG flavor is granted through character creation, which allows you to choose from warrior, paladin, and mage classes and then trick out your avatar with skills, artifacts, weapons, armor, spells, and assorted other Gygaxian accoutrements. As with that long-lived Ubisoft franchise, the core of this game is all about taking on the role of a hero in a solo campaign (there is no multiplayer option) and guiding parties of mercenaries across a real-time map to fight turn-based battles on hex grids. Just about everything feels like a rip-off of Heroes of Might and Magic. While King’s Bounty may not be the most revolutionary game of 2008, its refined gameplay makes it a treasure worth hoarding.Īctually, about the only fair negative comment you could make about King's Bounty is that there isn't really anything new here. ![]() While these digitalized archaeological digs generally reveal that you wouldn't want to go home again even if you could (Defender of the Crown, anyone?), the revival of New World Computing's fondly remembered role-playing/strategy hybrid is a vast improvement upon its 1990 predecessor. One thing you can say for King's Bounty: The Legend is that it fares a lot better than most resurrections of old games. |
